I recently stepped in to help a friend in the last stages of her wedding planning. Being a man and the groom’s best man, the bride wanted a man’s perspective on how things were going and to ensure that the wedding and reception would be as fun for the groom, who was finishing a tour in Iraq, as it would be for her. As I went through her notes on the things she had accomplished and the ideas for things she had yet to do, I realized how stress free she was and why. She had to be the most relaxed bride I have ever met for someone about to be married in two short weeks. Her secret was in the notes.

Scattered among the outrageously unorganized notebook filled with torn out pages, a pattern emerged. She was writing not only about what she wanted to do, she was writing what it was like and describing her experiences and how she felt about them. Without realizing it, she was keeping a journal of her wedding planning experience. I spent an entire weekend sorting through the notes. I separated and typed up the personal parts and left the planning in the book. When I finished, what had emerged was an amazing novella of a woman’s experiences with the world of wedding planning and of getting married in general.

Having been a big part of my mothers re-marrying and my sister’s wedding, not to mention my own, I knew that my friend’s bride to be should be a stressed out mess ready to pull her hair out by the roots. Instead, she was calm, collected, and had a firm grasp of exactly what she wanted and how to get it. This was totally out of character for her. When I looked at the unorganized way she took notes and jumbled dates and appointments, I could tell that she was not particularly organized or used to managing such a large task. Something had kept her calm and collected through all of this and it had to be the journal.

Writing down in words how she felt about each stage of the wedding planning had helped her to come to grips with her feelings and made her feel closer to the groom to be in his absence. She had written all of this down as if she were explaining to him what she were going through on a day-to-day basis and this had kept her on track and stress free. She told him about every detail, right down to picking out the bridal shower favors and wedding shower favors. It had served as a guide and a form of self-therapy for her and allowed her to handle every situation with a clear-headed and purposeful smile that all but ensured her wedding would go off without a hitch and that is exactly what happened.

I know that I was asked to help her wrap up the loose ends and take some of the pressure off her but in the end, she helped me much more than I could ever have hoped to help her. The valuable lesson I learned will serve me well when I am finally ready to settle down again. My first wedding was a frantic mess and I would have never looked forward to going through it again but now, I can honestly say that when it comes time for me to help plan my own wedding, this time, I would do it much better than I did the first time. Who knows, maybe someday someone will publish what we learned from this experience and that will help others to plan their wedding without as much stress.

Wedding favors are one of the more interesting aspects of planning a wedding but often left a little late in the preparations. Don’t worry if you can’t think of anything as there is a whole industry set up supplying treats for guests. With this in mind, it should be one less item you have to worry about for your big day because your favors might just be a phone call away.

An easy wedding favor option is flowers which really don’t take much to arrange but guests can enjoy. Owing to the nature of flowers, they can usually be left until later in the preparations which means the bride and groom will have less to worry about.

You might consider giving your guests a single red rose as a favor and this is extremely appropriate because a rose is a symbol of love plus roses do not need to be wrapped. Placing the rose on the wedding reception table where the guest are seated is a nice touch and doesn’t need to be done until the last minute.

These days the favorite is using candy and almost three quarters of events will use this as an easy wedding favor which can be enhanced by using a presentation tin. A simpler but possibly more interesting method is to present the candy that does away with expensive centerpieces altogether. Now, how simple is a large glass bowl filled with candy going to be in the centre of the table?

Supplying each wedding guest with a small tin or other presentation container so they can fill it with whatever candy they wish. This could be called a self service gift because all you have to do is supply the candy and something to place it in.

If you prefer not to give your guests more to eat then another option is a small picture frame and if you like, it can be used on the day as placeholders. Where possible, try to find a way around wrapping wedding favors, especially the likes of picture frames which could take a considerable amount of time, not to mention the cost. By using the picture frames as placeholders provides a way around this, making it a gift that does not need to be wrapped.

An easy wedding favor that might appeal is to have the photographer take a digital picture of each guest and then present it to them at the wedding reception as they arrive. The photos can be printed out whilst the reception goes on and the guests will have a pleasant surprise at the end of the evening when they leave as their photo will be waiting for them. If you are really stuck for a wedding favor idea, why not ask the photographer to take a picture of people as they arrive, to be presented later at the reception. Many photographers will also have a projector so could arrange a looping slide show of all the photos he had taken of the guests.

Golf wedding favors are a superb inexpensive wedding favor for a golf enthusiast, and there are a multitude of unique wedding favor ideas covering every imaginable hobby.

one of the most exhilarating times for a young woman is planning a wedding, whether it’s planning her own or helping a friend plan one. From the dress to the flowers, every detail has to be perfect. One small but important detail that can often be overlooked is the wedding favors! These small trinkets will be mementos for your guests to take home to enjoy, so everyone can remember your special day in the weeks and months to come. Here are ten quick tips to make yours memorable.

If your wedding has a theme, make sure your favors tie into the theme seamlessly! If you’re having a down-home western, consider tiny cowboy hats or boots filled with bubbles or candies. Getting married by the sea? A shell-shaped candle with an ocean scent will remind your guest of the great time they had! As long as the idea remains consistent, the sky is the limit.

You can also use colors to tie your wedding favors together with your ceremony. Try alternating shades of the same color – sky, turquoise, and navy blue, for instance – to provide variety and an eye-pleasing dcor for your guests and your attendants alike. Check fashion magazines to see this seasons “it” colors and decorate accordingly!

Many brides are keeping their celebrations green – even if that’s not one of their colors. Eco-friendly weddings are becoming more and more popular, and there is more than one way to celebrate your love and celebrate the environment at the same time. One popular item is seed paper. This can be planted directly into the ground, and a few weeks later, your guests will have beautiful flowers to look at to remind them of your special day. If you’re more interested in spending time shopping than gardening, look into tiny bags or boxes made of bamboo, a fast-growing sustainable resource.

Some things are meant to be forever – like your marriage. Remind your guests of this with a reusable wedding favor. Instead of a bag filled with candies or a handful of confetti, think of your guests’ likes and dislikes. If your wedding is a swanky cocktail affair, a wine bottle opener or bottle stopper will be a fancy way to tell your guests “Thanks for coming!” If you’re having an outdoor party, consider an etched or engraved vase for friends and family to bring the outdoors inside.

You’re a practical woman, planning ahead and getting great ideas. Practical wedding favors may be right up your alley! These go-to items may seem blas, but when decorated with your special touch they’re the perfect way to say thank you. Candles are always handy to set the mood, and your guests can reuse them to set their own romantic evening. With everyone taking their own pictures, many guests will get a shot of you on your big day. Let them display their photographic talents with personalized frames!

Weddings are happy occasions for everyone involved, whether you’re a guest, an attendant, or the bride or groom. Don’t let your big day turn forgettable! With a memorable wedding favor, your guests will be talking about your special day for months to come. With the right trinket, your memories will last a lifetime; not just for you, but for your guests, as well. Congratulations on your happy day!

When planning a wedding, there are a couple of things that have to be done first in order to ensure that you will never have to backtrack. There is nothing worse than having to change plans that have already been made or negotiated when you are planning a wedding because you forgot one or more of these first five steps.

When planning a wedding, there are a couple of things that have to be done first in order to ensure that you will never have to backtrack. There is nothing worse than having to change plans that have already been made or negotiated when you are planning a wedding because you forgot one or more of these first five steps.

The All Important List The very first thing that you have to do is make a list of what you want from your wedding. Do not believe for a second that it is the only one you will make. Your very first list will be a generalization of what you want. As you go along, your goals will become more refined and you will have to remake your list. You will also find that the main components of your first list will need a list of their very own so if you grabbed one sheet of paper, wad it up, and grab a big notebook instead. Better yet, if you do not have one already, invest in a laptop computer.

Don’t Even Go There Unless you are a super-sonic, mega-monster organizer and a meticulously clear thinker, do not assume you can plan your own wedding without help. Nine times out of ten, it cannot be done. Look into hiring a wedding planner. Even if you have already bragged about how well you could do it and that you do not need a wedding planner to create your own wedding, bite your lip, swallow that pride, and start your interviews. You will be so much better off having someone you trust and has seen it all before than to blindly go in and spend more money that you can imagine. Do not worry about the cost, a great wedding planner pays for him or her self after the first deal or two of your wedding planning cards.

Location, Theme, Location These are categorized together because of their close relationship to each other. Let’s say you plan to have chicken as your reception meal and go with a set choice of colors. You hire a caterer and a good wedding designer and you are off to the races. Then, you find a great location and find out that they supply the food and offer decorating services as part of a package deal. Stop here and see if you can guess what you just lost. If you said non-refundable deposit, you guessed correctly. Go get yourself a cookie. Changing themes after the fact can be a pain in the neck so find a good solid theme right off the bat and stick with it. If you order Twilight party favors and Twilight party supplies and then decide to do a beach theme, you will have a hard time returning the merchandise.

Return to Go If you have not made a guest-list and you have already looked at location and food catering, head back to go and lose a turn. I do not care how many guests you think you are going to have, add 25 because if you have remembered every single person you want to invite and then also figured out who is bringing an uninvited date, you should open up a stand at the carnival and start making money as a mind reader and fortuneteller.

Go Back Three Steps As with anything in this life worth doing, this is worth doing right so you might as well do it right the first time, which is why we come back to the wedding planner. I cannot emphasize enough how important this step is. Interview is the word of the day. Speak to several before you make up your mind and do not be afraid to call the references and find out a little about the person you are trusting with the most important day of your life.

Getting married is a huge step in a life that does not allow for mistakes without consequences. If you have set a date and are ready to get married, chances are, you have thought it through and are ready to take the plunge. You have thought of every detail (you hope) right down to whether to have beach wedding favors or summer wedding favors and that is great– now, focus. The following is a list of the things that many couples forget to discuss with their photographer and then regret later. Hindsight is always in 20/20 vision. Foresight is always fuzzy. For this reason, a little creative vision is needed to get that foresight up and running properly.

One of the biggest regrets a young married couple will have after the fact is their choice of photographers. You want the biggest and just about the most important day of your life to be captured in big as life color so you can cherish it forever. Most people remember to hire a photographer but stop there. If you can afford it, hire two. Sit down with both and discuss exactly what you expect and be blunt. Leave nothing to chance when it comes to your wedding day. Make sure that your photographers understand what you want, what you expect, and most importantly, what you will pay for.

If it is clear to your photographers that you will not pay for fuzzy shots, pictures of cars with people you don’t know passing in the background, shots of the lawn and someone’s shoes, and many other pictures that you will get that you just don’t want, your photographer will not include them in the package they present for payment. It is also a great idea to try to negotiate a refundable deposit if you are unhappy rather than the non-refundable one that they will push for and make sure you get all contracts on paper.

Black and white shots are great. They add a solemn and antique dimension to some shots that are priceless, however, too many black and white photo’s of your full color wedding are redundant and will make the overall package just plain boring. Make sure your photographer is clear on the theme you are looking for and that they have the experience to pull it off. Anyone can walk around and snap black and white pictures but the only ones you will wind up keeping are the close-ups of the bride and groom. Anything beyond that will languish away in the back of a photo album.

Finally, contract for the negatives and make sure you get them. You never know what the future holds. If you lose your precious memories and mementos in a fire, flood, or other natural catastrophe twenty years after your wedding date, chances are, you will not find the photographer who took the shots, and even if you do, they probably will not have the negatives. When you get the negatives, do not keep them at home. Lock them away in a safety deposit box. Every five years or so, check on their condition. If you see any sign of wear, tear, or erosion, have them reprinted and lock those away. The further out in years you are from your wedding day, the more valuable those sentimental shots become. If something happens to your wedding pictures, you will want more than just memories of them to look at in your golden years.

In today’s world, it is common to keep your wedding pictures and video on your computer. Make sure you back them up on your computer and on an outside server. These are just as precious and need to be protected, even if you are not into computers. Many years from now, your great-great grandchildren will get a kick out of them.

One option for an easy wedding favor, especially popular with the ladies is flowers. The preparation for flowers is almost non existent other than deciding on what flowers to use which can be ordered reasonably close to the big day.

You might consider giving your guests a single red rose as a favor and this is extremely appropriate because a rose is a symbol of love plus roses do not need to be wrapped. Placing the rose on the wedding reception table where the guest are seated is a nice touch and doesn’t need to be done until the last minute.

About 75 percent of people will use candy as it is an easy wedding favor that always pleases which can be simply presented in a box. If you prefer, there is an even easier method to give candy which can also save money at the same time. This can be accomplished by using large bowls filled with different types of candy as the centerpieces on each table.

To complete this idea, a small plain bag or carton can be left for each wedding guest to put their candy into. This really is easy because each guest can choose whatever candy they like and there isn’t a single piece of wrapping in sight.

Pictures frames can also work well especially if they are used as place card holders. If you intend to use picture frames as your wedding favors there is a way that you can present them to your guests without have to wrap them! However, by using the picture frames to hold the place cards, you do not have to worry about wrapping them for your guests.

Golf wedding favors are a superb idea for wedding favors if you’re a golf enthusiast, and there are a multitude of unusual wedding favor ideas covering every imaginable hobby.
